COMMUNICATIONS AND
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Assessor
David Roach addressed the Board concerning the Town’s Equalization Rate and the
need for a Town wide revaluation. He
invited the Board to contact him at any time and offered to meet with them on
an individual basis to answer any questions they may have concerning what he
does and what we need to do to fix the Equalization Rate, which is currently
95%. This will not correct itself on its
own. The last Town wide update was done
in 2005. He has approached previous
Boards several times, but nothing has been done to move forward with a revaluation
project. Mr. Roach explained the Board
needs to pass a memorandum of understanding which tells New York State they are
committed to the project. Once this is
done New York State will commit resources to the Town to help get through the
process. Mr. Roach then explained the process of the project. He also explained the annual updates are
within his realm of work, but there is a very significant amount of work involved
in a Town wide project. The fact the
Equalization Rate has only dropped to 95% in 12 years says the Town is in good
shape and the yearly data and update maintenance is being done. Mr. Roach will obtain bids from contractors
and bring them to the Board.
Supervisor
Williamson made a motion, seconded by Councilor Thrall, to allow Assessor Roach
to proceed with getting prices on three different approaches of revaluation,
all were in favor, none opposed.
